Values in Computing Careers

Funded by Mozilla Foundation’s Responsible Computing Challenge, this project explores how undergraduate computing students search for careers that align with their personal values and sense of mission — and how they navigate the real tension between economic stability and meaningful work.

We are interviewing two groups:

• Recent graduates working in industry who are reflecting reflecting on how they found (or compromised on) values-aligned work
• Current students actively searching who are capturing how they make decisions today

From this work, we are developing guidance and resources that make visible the often-invisible processes, networks, and opportunities that help students connect their values to their careers
